Review: In terms of its build, materials and finish, the A3 Cabriolet soft-top has lost none of the outstanding quality of the A3 Hatchback on which it is based. Review (continued): Safety provision consists of Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), including ABS, EBD, ASR and EDL, driver and front passenger front and side airbags, anti rollover bars, rear head restraints and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser, There is a choice of two petrol engines - the 1.8 TFSI and the 2.0 TFSI with either 6 speed manual or S tronic transmission - and two diesel engines - the 1.9 TDI with 5 speed manual transmission and the 2.0 TDI with 6 speed or S tronic transmission. The 1.8 TFSI with the manual gearbox averages 38.7mpg (37.2mpg S tronic) with CO2 emissions of 174g/km (180g/km S tronic) and the 2.0 TFSI 37.2mpg with either transmission and 182 g/km CO2 emissions (181g/km S tronic). The 1.9 TDI averages 55.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 134g/km and the 2.0 TDI manual 53.3mpg (50.4mpg S tronic) and 139g/km CO2 (148g/km S tronic). The 2.0 TFSI is particularly brisk sprinting between 0-62mph in just 7.4 seconds. The 2.0 TDI does it in 9.7 seconds but is much cheaper to run and attracts a lower insurance group rating.
