Review (continued): The Grande Punto was awarded the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests (left hand drive 3 door version tested). Safety equipment includes ABS with EBD, front and rear seats with antisubmarine cross-piece, driver and front passenger airbags and side and window airbags on all models except the Active and Active Aircon. ESP is standard on the Sporting version and available as an option on all others. There is a choice of three petrol engines -1.2, 1.4 and 1.4 16v StarJet- and two diesel engines - 1.3 16v Multijet and 1.9 Multijet. The Grande Punto is available in three or five door versions and in seven trims - Active, Active Aircon, Dynamic, Eleganza, Active Sport, Dynamic Sport and Sporting. The CO2 emissions, combined average fuel economy and 0-62mph acceleration for the petrol engines (manual) in the order given above are - 139g/km | 47.9mpg | 14.5 seconds, 139g/km | 47.9mpg | 13.2 seconds, 142g/km | 47.1mpg | 10.9 seconds and in the same order for the diesel engines - 119g/km | 62.8mpg | 13.6 seconds and 154g/km | 48.7mpg | 9.5 seconds.
