Review (continued): The Focus Estate comes in the same four trims as the Hatchback - Studio, Style, Zetec and Titanium - with three Duratec petrol engines and three Duratorq diesels. The petrol engines available within the range are 1.6i, 1.8i and 2.0i and automatic transmission is available on the 1.6i and 2.0i (there is no option for the 1.4i engine on the Estate). Running costs for the petrol versions are the same the as the Hatchback with combined average fuel economies (in the order given above) of 42.2mpg, 40.3mpg, 39.8mpg, 36.7mpg and 35.3mpg with CO₂ emissions (respectively) 159g/km, 167g/km, 169g/km, 179g/km and 189g/km. The three diesel engines are 1.6 TDCi, 1.8 TDCi and 2.0 TDCi, the last of which is available with Powershift transmission. In the order given above, combined average fuel economies vary slightly from the Hatchback at 62.7mpg, 53.2mpg, 50.4mpg and 48.6mpg and, in the same order, CO₂ emissions of 119g/km, 139g/km, 147g/km and 154g/km. As with the Hatchback, the Duratorq diesel engines perform as well as the petrol versions with especially strong acceleration in the mid range speeds and are probably the ideal choice for an Estate car. Safety equipment is summarised in the Focus Hatchback review but other standard equipment on both models includes remote control central locking, driver and front passenger electric windows and a steering column adjustable for rake and reach. Air conditioning is standard on models from the Style upwards and the Zetec gets alloy wheels and a Sony CD audio system.
