Review: The Lexus GS comes with a choice of three engines and trims. The entry level is the GS 300 with a 3.0 litre V6 petrol (Dual VVT-i) which also available in SE and SE-L trims. Next is the GS 460 with a 4.6 litre V8 petrol (Dual VVT-i Dual Port Injection) and available only in the one trim. Last, but by no means least, the GS 450h which has a 3.4 litre V6 petrol/electric hybrid (Dual VVT-i). There is currently no diesel version available. Review (continued): Standard equipment includes ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, traction and stability control, tyre pressure warning, driver and passenger two-stage airbags and kneebags, front and rear curtain shield airbags, driver and front passenger thorax, abdomen and pelvis airbags (TAP) and anti-whiplash front seats. The interior is pure comfort and luxury and includes a 10 speaker audio system, clean air filter and climate control and the build and materials quality is superb. With engines of this size and power the performance, which is especially marked on motorway cruising, is first class but a closer look at the data is very worth while - in particular for company car drivers. The GS 300 accelerates from 0-62mph in 7.2 seconds, has a combined average fuel consumption of 28.8mpg and CO₂ emissions of 226g/km. The GS 460 accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds, has a combined average fuel consumption of 24.8mpg and CO₂ emissions of 258g/km. The GS 450h meanwhile accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, has a combined average fuel consumption of 35.8mpg, CO₂ emissions of a mere 185g/km and attracts only 21% BIK tax as opposed to 33% for the non hybrid versions.
