Review: Mercedes-Benz describe the R-Class as 'a luxury multi-activity vehicle' and it has also been variously described as 'a Grand Sports Tourer' and a combination of luxury saloon, MPV and 4x4. Review (continued): The suspension systems make for a very smooth drive and it feels nimble and agile for its size. In terms of safety measures it uses the brand's own Neck Pro system to activate the head restraints on impact and has a comprehensive array of airbags (two-stage adaptive at the front) but they are optional for the second row seats perhaps because the manufacturers find that most use it as a five seater with extra storage space.
