Review: The Porsche Cayenne 4x4 is available in four trims. All have petrol engines and, with the exception of the Turbo, a 6 speed manual gearbox with an option for the Tiptronic S which is standard on the Turbo. The entry level Cayenne has a V6 290bhp engine, accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds, gets a combined average of 21.9mpg and has CO₂ emissions of 310g/kg. The Cayenne S, GTS and Turbo all have V8 engines producing 385bhp, 405bhp and 500bhp respectively.

Review (continued): In the same order, average fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions are 19.0mpg - 358g/km, 18.7mpg - 361g/km and 19.0mpg - 358g/km. Acceleration between 0-62mph is, S - 6.6 seconds, GTS 6.1 seconds and Turbo 5.1 seconds. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is fitted as standard plus ABS, driver and front passenger front airbags and side thorax protection airbags, full length side curtain airbags. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) along with air suspension is standard on the Turbo and is optionally available on the Cayenne and Cayenne S. The GTS has PASM with steel sprung suspension and a lower ride height. There are also options for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) on all versions and an Off-road Technology Pack (not available on GTS) which includes an electronically variable rear differential lock. Equipment and build quality are excellent and the options are practically endless. Luggage space is good at 540 litres and comfort is superb, more so with some of the optional extras. Even on the basic model, the Cayenne has excellent agility and handling but with PASM and PDCC fitted it drives more like a large sports hatch than a 4x4.
