Review: The S80 is Volvo's very creditable attempt to wrest some of the executive saloon market away from its established competitors. Review (continued): It includes ABS and FBS (Fading Brake Support) with HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), OHB (Optimized Hydraulic Brakes), EBD, RAB (Ready Alert Brakes) DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control), whiplash protection, side impact protection, a 'vehicle in your blind spot zone' warning system and six airbags including kneepad and dual chamber side bags. But there's more and it's worth mentioning. There's a Collision Warning and Auto Brake system fitted to the Adaptive Cruise Control and a safety cage with impact dispersing crumple zones. There are five petrol engines, three diesels and one FlexiFuel plus four trims. All are smooth and powerful with some surprisingly good fuel economies for a vehicle of its size and capabilities - especially amongst the diesels. We could go on.
